Submit SNSF/Innosuisse Bridge
BRIDGE is a joint programme of the Swiss National Science Foundation SNSF and Innosuisse - the Swiss Agency for Innovation Promotion. It provides funding at the interface between basic research and science-based innovation.
BRIDGE consists of two funding schemes:
Proof of Concept is aimed at young researchers who want to develop an application or service based on their research results.
Discovery is aimed at experienced researchers who want to explore and realise the innovation potential of research results.
Proof of Concept
- Research experience as part of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, completed within the last four years or about to be completed within the next six months, or:
- PhD obtained within the last four years.
- Swiss research institution confirms support for the duration of the project.
- Applying as an individual and not as part of a group.
Discovery
- Submission by a single applicant or a consortium consisting of up to 3 applicants.
- All applicants must be faculty members or teaching and research staff employed at least 50% at a higher education research institution or at a research centre outside the higher education sector in Switzerland at least for the duration of the project.
- The underlying research must be peer-reviewed or documented by publications or other evidence of achievement.
- Ability to manage a research project and to lead the scientific and non-scientific staff of the project.
- Availability of the necessary research infrastructure.
- For Discovery proposals submitted by a consortium: applicants are from different independent research groups and each applicant must meet the eligibility criteria.
Maximum lenght of employment at ETH
Please refer to the ETH rules regarding the maximum duration of employment for scientific staff with fixed-term contracts. It is not possible to apply for a Bridge grant for a period longer than the maximum duration of the applicants employment.
Proof of Concept covers the salary of the grantee, and expenses directly related to the execution of the project up to 130,000 Swiss francs for a maximum of 12 months.
Bridge Discover covers the salary costs of the project staff and expenses related to the running of the project up to a maximum of 850,000 Swiss francs per applicant over four years.
