Manage ETH Postdoctoral Fellowships

In the decision letter you will find all relevant information about how to start your fellowship and receive the funds awarded.

The fellowship must be started within eight months after the submission deadline. If you are unable to start within this timeframe, please inform the Grants Office as soon as possible.

For all amendments to the fellowship, such as breaks or earlier terminations, the Grants Office must be contacted.

The ETH Fellowship budget for research and travel costs can only be used during the active time of the fellowship. In rare and scientifically well-founded cases any remaining budget can be used shortly after the end of the fellowship. For this, the fellow must still be employed at ETH Zurich and the expenses need to be directly connected with the ETH Fellowship project. Again, please contact the Grants Office for further information.

The Grants Office can be reached at

To monitor and improve the programme, each ETH Fellow is requested to submit a final report within six weeks after completion of their fellowship to the ETH Zurich Grants Office. The relevant request and form will be sent to you in due course.

During or after their fellowship, ETH Fellows have the opportunity to conduct a research stay at one or more of the IDEA League partner universities TU Delft, RWTH Aachen, Chalmers University and Politecnico di Milano. These research stays are between two weeks and three months long. The Mobility Grants are intended to expand the scientific portfolio and network of the ETH Fellow and should benefit the fellow’s work at ETH Zurich or their career development. Thereby, the grants should enable and encourage the use of research infrastructure at other IDEA League universities and/or collaborations with researchers at these universities. A connection to research infrastructures is desirable, but not required. The research stay can also be used to start or work on joint projects. The Mobility Grant is competitive with only 5 grants available each year. More information can be found here
