SNSF Projects

SNSF Projects are the main instrument of the Swiss National Science Foundation. They are open to advanced researchers from all disciplines who want to apply for project funding (including staff but not their own salary).

There are no ETH-internal requirements for external page SNSF Projects. A letter of commitment from the institution is no longer required. Please contact the SNSF by email (see under Contacts and choose the relevant research field) for specific questions about the projects. The Office of Research provides general advice.

Please note that the SNSF requires grantees to publish all results Open Access (external page Green or Gold). The SNSF and ETH Library provide funding for Gold Open Access publications. The SNSF monitors Open Access compliance via scientific reporting. Please contact the library if you need further information or help on this topic.

With its Open Research Data (ORD) policy, the SNSF requires a data management plan (DMP) for approved applications. It should provide information on the data life cycle. For funded applications, grantees receive an invitation to submit their DMP on the mySNF platform. Supporting information is provided on the corresponding external page SNSF website and through the ETH Library.
